Local news for New Yorkers, linked to its sources

NewYorkNews.app brings the city's news, video, events and neighbors into one place — tuned to your neighborhood and the lines you follow.

What we are

NewYorkNews.app is a local news and community app for the five boroughs. Every morning you get a briefing, the stories that matter on the lines you follow — Transit, City Hall, Housing, Food and more — live weather and subway status, events near you, and a Community space where neighbors talk about all of it.

Reading is free and never requires an account. An account lets you follow lines, save stories, comment, post and submit events.

How stories are reported

Every story is written by a member of our editorial team. Editors write from public reporting and official data — agency releases, public records, meeting testimony, open data sets and the work of other newsrooms — and summarize what it means for New Yorkers.

  • We don’t publish claims we can’t trace to a source you can check.
  • When we rely on another outlet’s reporting, we credit and link to it.
  • Stories are checked against their sources before they’re published, and marked “Developing” while facts are still coming in.
  • Nothing on NewYorkNews.app is written by an automated system.

Sources & transparency

Each story ends with a How this story was made box that names its author and lists every source it’s based on, with a link to the original. If a source changes or goes offline, we update the story and its timestamp.

Corrections

We fix mistakes quickly and openly. When a correction changes the meaning of a story, we update it and say what changed at the end of the article. Minor fixes — typos, formatting — are made without a note.

Spotted an error? Use Report an error on any story, or email us at support@newyorknews.app. Please include the story link and what you believe is wrong; a source helps us verify it faster.

Community & comments

Comments on a story are posted to Community with the story attached, so neighbors can find the conversation and reply there. Posting requires a confirmed email address. Readers can report posts, and our moderators review them against the community guidelines.
